Arthur Whalley

Arthur Whalley played for Blackpool in 1908 before he was purchased by Manchester United for £50. Whalley was part of the Second Footballers’ Battalion (23rd Battalion the Middlesex Regiment). Promoted to Sergeant, Whalley was wounded in the latter stages of the war but returned to play for Manchester United. He continued to play until 1926.
